Common Core Curriculum Professional Development Updates
The NYCDOE is offering the following professional development (PD) and resources on Common Core-aligned curriculum and instruction:
Registration Links for Curriculum Team Session 5: Your staff may register for curriculum team sessions for high schools and middle schools that did not purchase Core Curriculum materials until May 16 (extended from the original deadline); these sessions will focus on shifting pedagogy in math (May 21, 22), ELA (May 21), science (May 28), and social studies (May 28).
Online Resources: The following online resources are available to schools that opted into the Core Curriculum programs below:
§ Code X: Teachers and school leaders can now register for the fourth Code X webinar, which will be held from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on May 20. In this webinar, participants will investigate strategies for engaging students in reflection and goal setting. The first half explores strategies for leading students in self-reflection and holding one-on-one conferences. Participants will then discuss how to help students set goals and measure their progress towards reaching their goals over the course of the year.
Summer School Applications
Current and former pedagogical and school-based support staff may apply for summer school positions using the Summer School Instructional Program (SSIP) online application tool, which will be available on the summer school page, beginning Tuesday, May 13. Applications are due by Tuesday, June 10; applications submitted after that date will be considered only after review of applications submitted by the due date.
