Common Core Curriculum Professional Development: Summer Sessions
New summer Fundations professional development (PD) sessions: Elementary school administrators, coaches, and teachers at schools that purchased Wilson’s Fundations through the Core Curriculum ordering process are invited to attend free training sessions on August 26 or August 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This Fundations Introductory Workshop provides practice and guidance needed to effectively begin teaching the Fundations curriculum, including a practical, how-to overview of the curriculum and materials. Additional information, including a link to register, is available here. For more information, contact Kira Bonn.
Reminder about summer PD sessions for ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, and CMP3: The NYCDOE is offering three-day introductory and one-day intermediate PD sessions this summer for schools using the following Core Curriculum programs: ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, and CMP3 (various dates, July 7–August 22, 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.). For more information and to register, click here; educators should register by June 27. Please share this information with your staff.
You may send as many teachers as you wish to attend PD this summer, but you are responsible for compensating them. Funding to support your staff in attending this PD, as well as in implementing other aspects of the Citywide Instructional Expectations, has been made available through FY15 School Allocation Memorandum (SAM) No. 38. Vacancy circulars (VC) for teachers (VC #577) and supervisors (VC #576) that cover participation in Core Curriculum PD between July 1 and September 30 are posted here.
