Letter to Parents from Principal Link
September 3, 2013
Dear Parents/Guardians of our wonderful TAPCo students!
We are all very excited and happy to be back for the 2013-14 school year. Below, you will find school supply lists for Middle and High School students for the first time ever before the start of school. In the future, supply lists will be mailed out at the end of the school year, so you will be able to purchase supplies at marked down instead of higher prices.
TAPCo teachers and staff have been hard at work the past several days preparing for the first days and weeks of school:
We have hired several new staff to strengthen how we educate and serve all of our students. Please help us welcome Perrin Avent (Special Education & Art Therapy), Leticia Domenech Community Associate), David Haverstock (High School English and Piano), James Joseph (Chemistry), Dana Levenberg (Physical Education), Allison Shebar (High School Math), and Gladys Welch-Jackson (Pupil Accounting).
Our school website www.tapconyc.org will continue to be an excellent place to visit for the latest information from and about TAPCo. Please remember to provide our Parent Coordinator Lissette Mendoza with all your contact information including your email address.
All My Best,
Ron Link, Principal
Academics and More
We earned a "Proficient" on our 2012-13 Quality Review and also received a "B" on our latest High School Progress Report and our graduation rate for the 2012-13 school year was 88%.
We employ 43 talented and dedicated educators many of whom are dual-certified in the Arts. This school year we are working with the Lehman College of Education as one of a select group of sites to help develop and mentor new teachers in conjunction with our highly qualified teaching staff.
We have a theater scene shop, dedicated dance studio, a black box theater & a regular full-sized auditorium, two vocal chorus rooms, and a radio station. Pay us a visit and you'll learn how our community lives up to the highest behavioral and academic standards.
We provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for all students. We are looking forward to meeting you and your parents in person or online. We encourage all prospective students and parents to visit with us!
