Distribution of Teacher's Choice Funds and Deadline for Ordering
Teachers and other eligible staff members have the opportunity to purchase instructional materials and supplies for use in their classrooms through the Teacher's Choice Program. This year’s Teacher’s Choice funding allocation levels have increased from last year, and eligible school staff members will receive funds via their paychecks on November 30; note that these funds are not taxed. Staff members who receive these funds are required to spend them on qualifying educational materials (see “Using Teacher’s Choice Funds” on page 3 of this document) by this year’s purchasing deadline of January 15, and must submit original receipts to you or your designee by January 20. You should inform your staff members of this opportunity and remind them of these guidelines and participant responsibilities, which are also posted on the Teacher’s Choice website.
To see a list of staff members at your school who are eligible to receive Teacher’s Choice funds, you should generate a ‘TO Report’ in myGalaxy; see here for instructions. If an eligible staff member does not receive their funds on November 30, you or your designee should email his or her name and file number to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 5, so that funds can be distributed in the staff member’s paycheck on December 30. As a reminder, staff members who opted out of the program by October 21 will not receive these funds.
For other key Teacher’s Choice program dates and deadlines, review this calendar. Additional details, including guidelines, FAQs, and forms pertaining to the program, are posted on the Teacher’s Choice website. For questions, email email@example.com or call 718-935-4000.
