Advanced Certification in Health Education for Current K-12 Health Teachers
As part of the multiyear Health Ed Works initiative to revitalize health education for all students, the DOE, in collaboration with Lehman College, is offering in-service, K-12 health education teachers an opportunity to apply for an 18-credit program leading to an Advanced Certificate in Health Education. To be eligible, teachers must currently be teaching health education, but not certified in health. They must also possess a New York State (NYS) initial or professional certification in any subject area and a master's degree in a related field. The DOE will cover the cost of tuition and fees. Coursework begins in June 2020, and concludes in spring 2021. Participants must attend a mandatory orientation at Lehman College, tentatively scheduled from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on May 5, prior to the start of the program.
For more information about this opportunity, including a link to the application, see this flyer. You should share the flyer with eligible teachers who may be interested in applying. Applications are due on January 27.
