Grade-Level Updates To City Teaching Licenses
Effective November 1, in an effort to better align New York City teaching licenses with New York State certificates, several City license areas will be broad-banded to encompass additional grade levels. All active teachers, who are licensed in the affected subject areas, will receive an email from the NYCDOE notifying them of the changes on November 2. Please review the following changes made to City teaching licenses:
The changes will have no effect on seniority or completion of probationary status for teachers serving in the impacted licenses, nor will there be any effect on excessing or other personnel decisions made prior to the date of the change. These license updates will be reflected in NYCAPS and Employee Information System (EIS) over the next several months, so they may not immediately appear in these systems.
For additional information on these license changes, see this page. For questions, contact your FSC HR director.
