Common Core Curriculum Professional Development UpdatesThe NYCDOE is offering year-long professional development courses for teachers using ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, and CMP3. These courses are led by New York City teachers and focus on effective use and strategic adaptations of Core Curriculum programs to meet students’ needs. You may register here by October 30 (extended from October 15). The courses will take place over four three-hour sessions after school or on Saturdays. If you opt to send teachers, please note that your school will be responsible for compensating them. Funding to support your staff in attending these courses, as well as implementing other aspects of the Citywide Instructional Expectations, is available through School Allocation Memorandum (SAM) No. 38. Vacancy circulars (VC) for teachers (VC#577R) and supervisors (VC#576R) that cover participation in Core Curriculum professional development are posted here. Teachers may also choose to take these courses for P-Credit. Further information will be provided to teachers who choose that option following registration.
Please also note the following opportunities: Common Core Literacy Series for Non-adopting Schools: ELA teachers in grades 3–8 who have not adopted a Core Curriculum program are encouraged to attend a professional learning series on the Common Core State Standards and shifting pedagogy in English Language Arts. Elementary and middle school teachers can register here by November 3. For questions, contact curriculumpd@schools.nyc.gov.
