Core Curriculum Profesional Development OpportunitiesThe NYCDOE is offering the following professional development (PD) and resources on Common Core-aligned curriculum and instruction. This overview provides the year-long schedule for each PD series below.
Register for Session 2 of NYSED’s Grade 9 ELA Curriculum (facilitated by PCG): Teachers, administrators, and coaches implementing NYSED’s grade 9 ELA curriculum modules, which are being developed by PCG and are available on EngageNY.org, are invited to attend two PD sessions: § Register by February 13 for session 1 on February 18 or 19 (for teachers) and February 20 (for administrators and coaches) from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (as announced in the January 7 edition of Principals’ Weekly) § Register by March 7 for session 2 on March 19 or 20 (for teachers) and March 21 (for administrators and coaches) from 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. For other March curriculum professional development sessions, register by: § February 14 for general session 4 for ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, and CMP3 § March 3 for Expeditionary Learning (grades 3–8) PD § March 7 for Common Core, Inc. PD Online Resources: The following online resources are available to schools that opted into the Core Curriculum programs below: § Expeditionary Learning: School leaders who are new to Expeditionary Learning are invited to a webinar on February 13 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. This webinar will provide an overview of the curriculum, ideas for implementation, suggestions on pacing, and opportunities to share ideas with colleagues. Participants will need a computer with a broadband connection and speakers (a microphone is helpful but not essential). Click here to participate.
