Leadership Development OpportunitiesTeacher Leadership Advancement Program: The Teacher Leadership Advancement Program (TLAP) is a two-year program that prepares teacher leaders to become school administrators through coursework and a part-time residency. Program design elements include strengthening instructional prowess and content knowledge, facilitating adult learning, managing teams, and taking a systematic approach to school improvement. Candidates for TLAP should have three years of full-time experience teaching in a K–12 classroom and should be a member of a school-based team focused on improving student outcomes. After successful completion of the program, participants will earn their School Building Leader (SBL) certification. The application deadline is April 3. For questions, email Irene Rogan from the NYC Leadership Academy at iroganTLAP@nycleadershipacademy.org
Emerging Leaders Program: The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a year-long program that provides teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and assistant principals with leadership development through in-person sessions, school-based projects, and virtual learning. To participate in the ELP, candidates must have three years of full-time experience teaching in a K–12 classroom, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a teaching certificate; candidates must also provide a recommendation from a principal, network, or cluster team member by May 3. Candidates will be contacted by email with application instructions after their recommendation is received. Applications are due May 13. Optional webinars for interested candidates are scheduled on March 14 and 18. For questions, email Melissa Posa at mposa@newleaders.org or visit www.newleaders.org/. For more information about leadership development opportunities and resources at the NYCDOE, visit the Leadership Pathways website or contact leadershippathways@schools.nyc.gov. Cardboard Boxes/TrashPlease make sure not to leave cardboard boxes or displays just outside your room in the hallway. The place to put them is just outside the kitchen serving room on the 4th floor. I have personally moved cardboard boxes to this area and seen displays move around without being disposed of and simply left outside a room.
