Common Core Professional Development Updates
The NYCDOE is offering the following professional development (PD) and resources on Common Core-aligned curriculum and instruction. This overview provides the year-long schedule for each PD series below.
Additional CMP3 technology sessions: Teachers can now register by March 14 for one of four technology sessions to support teachers in using the online components of CMP3, including Dash, MathXL, ExamView, and Teachability. These sessions are meant to supplement the four CMP3 general sessions and will take place from 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on March 7, 14, 21, and 28. Registration for the technology sessions will close on a rolling basis. These sessions will cover the same content as the January CMP3 technology sessions.
As a reminder, register by:
§ March 3 for Expeditionary Learning (grades 3–8) PD on March 18 (“Going Deeper with Writing”), March 19–20 (“Supporting Learning through Academic Conversations”), and March 21 (“Leading Change for Administrators and Coaches”); note that the session on March 21 will cover the same content as the session on January 23
§ March 7 for Common Core, Inc. PD on March 18–19 (grades K–5) and March 20–21 (grades 6–9)
§ March 7 for PCG (grade 9) session 2 on March 19 or 20 (for teachers) and March 21 (for administrators and coaches) from 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
§ March 7 for general session 4 for Code X offered March 3–20 (extended from original deadline; sessions will close on a rolling basis)
§ March 14 for general session 4 for ReadyGen, Go Math!, and CMP3 offered on various dates, March 3–28 (extended from original deadline; sessions will close on a rolling basis)
Online Resources: The following online resources are available to schools that opted into the Core Curriculum programs below:
§ Code X: Teachers and school leaders may now register for the third Code X webinar, “Engaging Students in Evidence-Based Writing” from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on March 6, March 10, and March 13. This webinar will explore strategies for supporting students in evidence-based writing.
