Common Core Curriculum Professional Development: Summer Sessions and Applications for Teacher FacilitatorsSummer professional development (PD) sessions: The NYCDOE is offering three-day introductory and one-day intermediate PD sessions this summer for schools using the following Core Curriculum programs: ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, and CMP3 (various dates, July 7–August 22, 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.). See this overview for additional details, including session content, schedule, and links to register; educators should register by June 27.
Encourage teachers to apply for teacher facilitator roles by June 13: The NYCDOE is launching an application process to identify a select group of teachers with experience teaching one of the Core Curriculum programs, ReadyGen, Go Math!, Code X, or CMP3, and strong facilitation skills. Over the course of the 2014–15 school year, selected teachers will work with NYCDOE coaches to develop and lead a series of four after-school or Saturday sessions. Please share this overview with any teachers who have demonstrated strong implementation of a Core Curriculum program and potential to facilitate workshops for colleagues. Teachers should apply by June 13. Online Resources: The following online resources are available to schools that opted into the Core Curriculum programs below: § Code X: Teachers and school leaders can now view a recording of the fourth Code X webinar. Use “codex” (all lower case) as the password. In this webinar, participants investigated strategies for engaging students in reflection and goal setting. The first half explored strategies for leading students in self-reflection and holding one-on-one conferences. Participants then discussed how to help students set goals and measure their progress towards reaching their goals over the course of the year.
