Grant OpportunitiesGrant opportunities are posted on the Grants website (you can visit the page on any computer using this link). This week’s highlights include:
§ New Dual Language Program Planning Grant: Project Adelante § NYC Municipal Archive Mini-Grant for Teachers Clarification of Rules for Parent Association Fundraisers Involving Students During the School DayParent Associations (PA/PTA) may hold fundraisers during non-school time and charge a fee or a suggested fee for participating in the event. In this way, families that wish to participate may do so, and those that do not may refrain from participating. However, the rules relating to PA/PTA fundraisers held during the school day involving children are different. First, per Chancellor’s Regulation A-610, PA/PTA fundraising activities involving students during school hours are limited to two per year. Secondly, direct solicitation of donations from students on school property during school hours is not permitted. Thirdly, such fundraising may not be conducted in a way that interferes with the ability of students to participate in events and programs held during school hours, including PA/PTA fundraising events. As such, students whose families are not making a contribution to the PA/PTA may not be excluded from participating in fundraising events during school hours. All student activities during the school day must be open to all students.
